Success Story sensorProbe2 (AK-SP2)

Client: Institute for Astrophysics of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen

Requirements Profile: Precise monitoring of temperature and relative humidity of 50-cm telescope and the telescope dome.

The prestigious Institute of Astrophysics of the Georg-August University of Göttingen in Göttingen is home to a modern reflector telescope with a mirror 50 cm in diameter and 5 m focal length, which is used in the teaching of physics and the internship placement as well as for astrophysics.

To counter the dew on the primary mirror of the telescope as early as possible to search for a suitable solution for monitoring the environmental factors temperature and humidity.

This was to fulfill the following requirements:

  1. precise monitoring of temperature and humidity in the telescope as well as within the telescope dome
  2. Long-term recording of measured values / Graphic display of measured values
  3. Timely and reliable alarms when state changes

The solution

Didactum® offered AKCP sensorProbe2 (AK-SP2) to monitoring the temperature and humidity of the telescope and the telescope dome.
