IP-based 7x24 remote monitoring of UPS Systems

The availability of UPS systems, including the batteries should be regularly inspected. Existing emergency diesel should also be maintained (including fuel supply).

Especially older battery packs of UPS Systems make the necessary backup times quickly to a non-calculable risk. The consequences can be devastating.

At regular intervals, Server systems and network equipment is replaced or newly purchased. In many companies the necessary autonomy of the UPS system is not adapted to the new requirements.

In worst case, the available battery life of the UPS system is reduced significantly - the risk of system crashes and possible data loss increases.

Alarm in case of power failure in the server room and data center

You want to be immediately alerted via e-mail alert, SMS alert or SNMP trap notification, as soon as the UPS power supply in the server room and data center starts? Rely on the IP-enabled sensorProbe and securityProbe remote security solutions.

The TCP/IP-based sensorProbe and securityProbe alarm server work independently, additional software clients or agents are not required.

Due to the SNMP-compatibility of AKCP monitoring devices, a variety of Network Management Solutions are supported. The sensorProbe and securityProbe monitoring devices could be integrated, including the connected sensors, under NMS-Systems sucha as CA Unicenter, HP OpenView, HP SIM, WhatsUp Gold, Intellipool, IBM Tivoli, SCOM and many more. Required MIB files and SNMP tools are included with the AKCP`s alarm server systems.

Unless you have up to now no NMS in action, please have a look on the proven securityProbe series. Here is a Nagios Monitoring System is already included and can be activated on demand.
Each AKCP securityProbe has 8 ports for SNMP-enabled environmental sensors, one single-port monitoring temperature and humidity sensor (AK-THS00) is already included to monitor key environmental media (temperature, relative humidity) and ambient conditions in your server room, data center and production area.

Shutdown of Windows-Linux-Unix servers in case of emergency

In case of power supply of your UPS systems, the securityProbe alarm server could provide a fully automatic shutdown signal to your installed Windows and Linux Server systems.

A reliable shutdown of your server systems could be initiated before the maximum backup time of your UPS has been reached. Data loss, hardware damage of your mission-critical server systems will effectively prevented. Should your network connection ever fail, the securityProbe could alert security staff with the optional GSM / GPRS modem DD SI-GSM, available in Didactum`s online store.

As part of securityProbe´s integrated escalation management, IT contingency plans are holistically represented. An integrated alarm card / mapping module enables rapid localization of problem spots in your data center / server room / facility.

Connecting the UPS to the securityProbe alarm server system

If your UPS is SNMP-capable, the necessary SNMP traps will be send directly to the securityProbe.

If your UPS does not provide an SNMP card, the UPS system is connected to the securityProbe via dry contact. If you want to monitor multiple UPS systems via dry contacts, Didactum® recommends a securityProbe-5E including e-opto16 expansion unit or the security-X20/X60 remote monitoring appliances with 20 or 60 dry contacts. Furthermore you could attach via dry contacts air conditioning and ventilation system, telephone systems, fire alarm systems or door contacts. These HVAC systems could be easily integrated into the TCP/IP-based securityProbe-X20/X60 alarm server systems.
